BLAST FROM THE PAST: My Halloween costumes

I moved to America over three years ago, which means I got to dress up for Halloween just as many times. Today I wanted to reminisce about those fun times, and show you my old costumes. Hopefully, this post will inspire you if you're still looking for an outfit... Halloween is just 5 short days away!

My first Halloween was just two months after my move, so I went with something simple and classic. I think everybody has been a flapper at least once in their life before, haha. It's a great last minute outfit idea. All you need is a dress, hopefully with some nice embellishments and flares on the bottom. Then accessories: head piece. long gloves and the pipe for a cigarette. I also added a black boa. Have fun with your hair and makeup!

The following year, I decided it's time to go big or go home, literally! As you can see I was a Big Bird and had so much fun planning my costume. My talented handy friend helped me with some sewing and designing, I definitely couldn't do it without her! If you're interested, I've got a whole detailed tutorial for you HERE. Needless to say, my Big Bird costume was a hit, I was even featured on LaurenConrad.com for their Halloween edition (very proud moment for me!)
You can check it out HERE. :)

Last year I wanted to go with something funny. I had this yellow leftover corset and was brainstorming ideas. I originally bought it for my Big Bird costume but decided to go with something else. The bright yellow corset turned out to be a perfect piece for my road worker/constructor costume. Slippery when wet was just a fun touch and it definitely got a lot of attention!

This year, I decided to wear all black... any ideas who I might be?

Please share me your costume ideas, I'd love to hear!

SOFT TONE NEUTRALS FOR FALL

If I'm not wearing black, you can usually find me in nude tones. As I get older, I appreciate more of a softer palette and classic colors... If I could, I would probably wear grey every day though. It's funny how it seems to be the most interesting 'color' to me...

BLACK + ANIMAL PRINT

Black and animal print must be one of my favorite (and safest) combinations ever. You can never go wrong with a little pop of leopard in my book, especially, if you pair it with black, burgundy or grey.

Today's outfit maybe doesn't necessarily scream fall, hence the crop top and open toe shoes, but I had to share it because it's perfect for those who love comfort. I don't know any other pants that are more comfortable than these from Forever 21. I'm also obsessed with this leopard print crop top from DRESSGAL because of the material! I  already can't wait for summer to be back so I can re-wear it million different ways!

LITTLE STRIPED DRESS

Trench coats and stripes seem to be everyone's favorite combination, especially when we're talking fall. No surprise there, it's a simple, classic pairing that will never go out of style.

If you remember my DRESSGAL wishlist from summer (see it here), you might recognize both of those pieces. I've been recently filling up my closet with basics, and I'm pretty sure this little striped dress and the trench coat will become my new staples for years to come.

***Also, you can't beat the price (under $20 for both!), and the surprisingly good quality.
